(1) To advance the scientific study and professional practice of Medicines, by encouraging its development by promoting research, living high standards of professional ethics, competence, conduct, education, qualification and achievement among practitioners.
(2) To carry out the promotion and the dissemination of knowledge and philosophy of Medicines through local and International Meeting, lectures, seminars, workshops, reports, papers, discussions, publications and professional contacts.
(3) To encourage a wide interest among the public and Medicines and all ancillary areas of knowledge and practice.

The Open International University for Complementary Medicine (OIUCM) has been an educational foundation that has provided clinical training, accreditation and certification to clinicians, physicians and therapists of alternative medicine from all parts of the world Under the leadership of Lord Professor Dr Anton Jayasuriya, OIUCM have conducted intensive clinical training programs for various forms of complementary medicines under the United Nations theme "Health For All By The Year 2000". More than 30,000 students from some 140 countries have been conferred degrees from the OIUCM.which is internationally recognised and a legally constituted Institution.
This formidable affiliation also established procedures and regulations outlining the Code of Ethics that health care workers including physicians, nurses, midwives, etc are expected to follow, in accordance to the WHO guidelines
OIUCM with the affiliation of Medicina Alternativa International Institute, an international organization formed in 1962 to correspond with the policy objectives of the World Health Organization (WHO), have instituted training, symposiums and world congresses in five continents and over hundred countries in the past few decades.
